Work is ongoing at Milton Keynes for a 500,000 sq ft office hub, being built to consolidate a major Global Banks' office in Milton Keynes and create a new base for its 6,000 employees. John Sisk & Son were assigned as the Main Contractor for the developer Osborne + CO in 2020 on a development due to open in the autumn of 2022.

Working with the Architect LOM, John Sisk have designed the office to be an environmentally sustainable building, to achieve BREEAM 'Excellent' and WELL ‘Gold’ Certification, a measure of the building’s impact on the health and wellbeing of its occupants. The campus will include, a fitness centre, cycle storage and an employee rooftop running track as well as co-working space for small businesses and start-ups and landscaped naturally lit atriums.
Since the commencement of works in June 2020 almost 130,000m3 of clay spoil has been removed from site and a total of 35,500m3 of concrete has been poured on-site, and two of the cores have been completed.
The building is arranged across four blocks which are connected by three atria and Brogan Group worked with John Sisk on a design and supply of powered access and scaffolding solutions.
MBC 50 twin goods hoists accompanied by 2032 single passenger goods Hoist have been used, with a side passenger hoist installed on the side of the main Goods Hoist mast for an efficient installation. Brogan group supplied cast-in anchor tie plates which the John Sisk team installed with the concrete slab pour. These were co-ordinated by Brogan to ensure there were no clashes with post-tensioning to the floor slab construction.
One of the Hoists starts at basement level hoist, rises out of a voided slab up to a terrace on level 7 where Brogan have constructed landing ramp scaffold to reduce the drop over the lip so that materials can be transported into the interior and the roof. Haki Stairs have also been installed by the Brogan team on-site for additional personnel access.
A sequence of three naturally lit atrium with a closed roof is a major feature of the design. Linear Gardens will be planted at ground level and the upper floors of the building offer flexible workspace arranged around these internal atria.
Here Brogan have constructed a large free-standing Birdcage scaffold to access the ceiling above the 8 stories of these atria, with side egress points added for access to weld the permanent beams and external cladding.
I can say that the experience we have had to date dealing with Brogans has been a very positive one. We have them doing scaffolding and hoists on this job and the hoists are excellent. We have a requirement for a very large twin mast which has been very useful. The service provided by Brogans’ is very good, from design to installation they have been extremely professional and also user friendly. Their drawings have been done in 3D so it has been very easy for us to visualise and review. This is the second project in a row Brogans have done for our team and we would not hesitate to use them again on a future schemes.
