September 10th 2021 is World Suicide Prevention day and Brogan Group are delivering a Toolbox talk to our site teams to raise awareness about Suicide.
Globally 1 million people die due to suicide every year.
The CIOB ‘Understanding Mental Health in the Built Environment Report 2020’ found that:
- 26% of construction industry professionals thought about taking their own lives in 2019
- Construction workers are more at risk of committing suicide than they are from falling from height
- Every single working day in the UK 2 construction workers take their own life
- But some things can be done to help people in crisis and some of this involves unpacking certain myths around Suicide
